It’s something that I’ve heard many times over the past few days, “I can’t believe summer is over already!”. This summer seemed to pass me by in a hurry. So many things that I wanted to do; long lists of places to go, things to see, and chores to accomplish. Apparently the universe cares very little about my lists and the things I think I need to achieve (I should know this by now!). When I look back on the past two months, the summer resembles a bit of a kaleidoscope; joy, pain, love, growth, warmth, frustration, happiness, sympathy, empathy, glee, reflection. I intended on giving my blog more attention, but instead found myself enjoying more time “offline” and really being present in my daily activities; time with my family, making time for friends and enjoying what is.

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have been photographing a ton, even if it hasn’t yet made it to my blog! Beautiful happy weddings, giggling girls, warm golden sunsets, anniversary celebrations; love is all around! I’m working on some posts, check back often as I have a lot to share. This is my sister, brother-in-law and niece. They’re some of my favorite people in the world and they’re about to have another lovely little lady to add to our family. They’ve always been kind enough to let me take their family photos which I appreciate tremendously! Here are a few pics I snapped over the weekend:

I’m finally getting around to posting images taken last month from the first wedding of the summer! I assisted Kristen on this wedding, and as usual we had a blast! We don’t shoot together nearly enough anymore, but I love it when we do. Here are a few of my favorites from the day:

I’m delighted to post these images of a sweet little girl’s first birthday! Everything was pink, sweet and just … perfection! The saying “the love is in the details” shows through in everything mom did to mark her little angel’s milestone.

We couldn’t have picked a windier day for engagement photos, but I think the session turned out wicked! Here are a couple of my favorites:

Recently I had the honor of photographing a beautiful wedding in Banff. I’d written a long entry about it, but I just deleted the entire thing and decided to let these images speak for themselves. Congratulations Deanna & Lane, thank you for including Laura and I in your beautiful wedding, you guys are great! This is a small sneak peek of some of my favorite images that Laura and I captured, I will post more in larger size soon!

Ok, lets try this again! I always have people interested in my beginners photography class, but once time comes to commit to a class most people back out! So, if you are interested in (and ready to commit to) taking this beginners class, please post a comment below. The class will run Wednesdays from 6:30p – 8pm at the Airdrie School of Art, and I would love to start a class in a couple weeks time. Please email me if you have any further questions. The cost of the 5 week class is $125.00

Hopefully we can get a class together to begin in March!

I’m working on creating a page of “Prints” available for sale, it will up and running soon. There will be actual paper prints to purchase in various sizes, but in our technological age I decided to offer a digital file as well that you can purchase for just $0.99 that you can use as a desktop, on your iphone, etc. If you have any questions, or requests for certain images (custom work) please email me as I’m happy to oblige!

I’m not sure who planned our location for our Bridal Fantasy booth, but let me say this: it was heavenly being next door to an amazing cakery who fed us samples all day! Mmmmm, Red Velvet! I wanted to share a picture of our booth with you because we were very proud of it, Kyle & Kristen worked very hard and created a beautiful clean space amidst the (sometimes) tackiness of a Bridal Fair. No offense to anyone, but lets be honest, there’s a fair bit of tacky involved in weddings! So here is where I spent the day last Sunday, stuffing my face with cupcakes:

Isn’t it pretty?! This photo was taken by Laura Samuelson, as she was smart enough to bring her little compact point and shoot! I, on the other hand, have let my children play with my point and shoots and well, they don’t work so well anymore – imagine that!
